Medical technologies in broad terms are any kind of knowledge involved in the implementation of tasks and achieving specific results of the health care system. In a narrower perspective, presented during the MedTech session, these technologies include various types of “devices related directly or indirectly to the provided health care services and specific interventions (curative, diagnostic, rehabilitation or preventive)”.
The dynamic development of the MedTech sector is driven on one hand with the needs, i.e. the growing number of challenges related to civilization development, and on the other with the development of various types of technologies that are used in procedures, devices and medical devices.
In the development of medical technologies, there are great hopes for solving the problems arising in the broad spectrum of healthcare, but also in such areas as health management, economics, politics or sustainable development.
How do they change, thanks to new technologies, artificial intelligence, cybernetics or telecommunications, some of the competences of the outpatient treatment process, the hospital counseling, specialization counseling or home treatment? What challenges will biomedical engineering take – in technical, economic and organizational terms?
Medical technologies have ceased to be the domain of hospital operations and have become a key ingredient in everyone’s everyday life. The number of devices and medical devices in our immediate environment will constantly increase. It is worth knowing where we are going and how to use it wisely.
