Social innovation will help

Uni is universal, waterproof and innovative rain jacket designed for people with mobility disabilities. The modular structure of the jacket allows it to be adapted to the current needs of the user.

  • A deep adjustable hood with an extended visor protects against rain and does not limit visibility
  • The cape at the back of the jacket protects the back and prevents water from entering between the backrest and back
  • Reflective elements increase road safety
Waterproof zippers prevent water from getting under the jacket
  • Adjustment of the lower part of the jacket allows it to be adapted to various types of wheelchairs
  • Rolled-up jacket can be hanged on the wheelchair
  • Ventilation openings are located under the cape and in pocket bags
  • Modular design allows to adapt the jacket to the weather
  • The lower part of the sleeves is made of thicker fabric

The prototype of the project was made in collaboration with Regional Center for Social Policy in Krakow.

The purpose of the project is to provide a catalog including a template pattern for a modular jacket and instructions for self-sewing.

The project draws attention to the needs of people with disabilities in Poland. These are often fundamental needs such as properly designed clothing. I hope that manufacturers will see the potential for implementing solutions for this group of customers and soon new products will appear on the market facilitating the lives of people with special needs.
